Laura Sheppherd Gown on Oscar's "Red Carpet" 09 Mar 22:27
Laura worked with Susan Fiore, a local movie director, to create several gowns for Susan for the 2010 awards season. Susan wore Laura's gowns to several of the season's events including, the Golden Globes Awards, the Directors Guild Awards, and finally the 82nd Academy Awards red carpet. Susan, as assistant director, was nominated for a Directors Guild award for her work on Lifetime's "Georgia O'Keefe" which was shot here in New Mexico... Susan is married to Tony Mark who worked as executive producer on the 6 time Oscar winnng movie "The Hurt Locker". Susan and Tony were in attendance at the 82nd Academy Awards show this last Sunday evening. Susan was resplendent in a Laura Sheppherd gown made of silk crepe back satin and beaded french lace. Laura saves the day with fashion! 26 Oct 22:18
It isn't too often that someone can be a fashion hero, but this week Laura managed to save the day for a local bride. The distraught bride came to Laura with a fashion horror story on Thursday. The bride it seems, had commissioned a custom wedding gown from a local "couture" shop in town weeks ago (not Laura). The dress was a disaster, it didn't fit and was all askew in a terrible way. It was so tight the gown practically squished the brides "girls" to the point of non-existence, and the wedding was on Saturday!!! Laura was determined to help the bride who was crying and frantic with worry, out of this mess. With only 36 hours before the wedding, Laura took the dress to her studio, pulled the messy construction apart, and stayed up into the wee hours for two nights and a day reconstructing the crime. Three fittings later, and bridal bliss was restored! Fashion can change the world, at least for one bride.
